The ILACP is Illinois' Voice of Professional Law Enforcement. Established in 1941, ILACP represents more than 1,400 law enforcement leaders throughout the State.
ince 1928, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) has been dedicated to improving public safety. Our primary mission is to assist our 102 County Sheriffs throughout the state with training, communication, and the necessary resources for them to serve local communities more efficiently. The Office of Sheriff is the longest continuously existing non-military law enforcement entity in history.
The Illinois Police Officers Memorial Committee was established in 1985. Our monument in Springfield, Illinois bears the names of the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. Every year on the first Thursday of May, we hold a ceremony to pay tribute to fallen officers and their families. We are grateful to all our contributors who have helped us keep these memories alive.
Survivors include spouses, kids, adult children, parents, siblings, fiancés, significant others, extended family (aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, grandparents, and in-laws), co-workers, and suicide survivors (as determined by the Public Safety Officer Support Act of 2022).
C.O.P.S. serves survivors of officers whose death has been determined as line-of-duty by PSOB, FBI, FOP, or NLEOMF or those in the process of applying for benefits through the Public Safety Officers' Benefits Program.
